TCA was hired as part of a team of architects and historians charged with preparing plans for the expansion of the historic Village of Intercourse, Lancaster County, PA. Design inspiration for this $45 million expansion came from pre-1950’s development patterns common within Lancaster County’s original villages and boroughs. On 26.6 acres adjacent to existing retail businesses, new commercial and residential uses will surround a 1.63 acre central green. Proposed village components include two hotels, guest cottages, one restaurant/ banquet hall, one farmers market, a relocated one-room schoolhouse, 40,000 square feet of commercial office space, 40 upper-level apartments, and parking facilities. Hotels and cottages afford spectacular off-site views of productive farmland, while proposed streets and sidewalks connect visitors to existing village destinations.
