In order to inform a proposed TND Ordinance, TCA created a conceptual plan to develop an 87-acre infill site as a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) using the design principals of traditional neighborhood development. Located close to public transit, but with significant natural resource constraints, the proposed use would provide a needed opportunity for older residents to “age in place”. The plan offers tree-lined, pedestrian-oriented streets, a range of housing options, onsite commercial and recreational amenities, and adaptive reuse of a historic dwelling. More than 40% of the natural resources would be preserved and used to create a natural buffer to surrounding neighborhoods and a scenic setting for residents and visitors.
